Rockin’ and Ribbin’ in Promenade Park, 
Downtown Toledo, August 2 – 5, 2001

Join us on the waterfront in downtown Toledo for the 18th annual Northwest Ohio Rib-Off August 2, 3, 4 and 5. "Toledo’s Biggest Family Picnic" celebrates four days of great music, family fun and RIBS! Sample your favorite from seventeen of the greatest rib restaurants in Northwest Ohio and all parts of the country.


Proper technique for consuming ribs will be 
demonstrated daily.

Not to be Missed

Join us for lunch Friday, August 3 for the Media Cook-Off. Watch your favorite radio, television and print media celebrity teams do battle over their grills for the highest ratings on their own secret sauces. Judged by members of the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office.

Cast your vote for People’s Choice Award and you’re entered to win a gas grill donated by Home Depot. Look for the red, white and blue voting booths near the main stage. Winners of the People’s Choice Awards, as well as the Golden Rib competition (voted by a panel of judges,) will be announced at 4:00pm, Sunday, August 5 on the main stage.

Ribs . . . and More

Restaurants offer full and half slabs of ribs and dinners. There’s also ice cream, French fries, and corn on the cob, funnel cakes and more!

For the Kids

TV5 sponsors a kids’ area with activities for children ages 2 – 12. Featured on Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the Obstacle Course, Moon Walk, Winston the Whale and Radar Speed Pitch. Tickets are 75¢ each. Face Painting all three days priced by design. On Saturday, TV5 brings Animal Planet to the Rib-Off with free kids’ activities from noon to 6 pm.

Admission

There’s no admission fee to attend the Rib-Off. All musical performances are free and open to the public.

Food items and non-alcoholic beverages are purchased with cash. Alcoholic beverages are purchased with Official 2001 Rib-Off tickets. Alcoholic beverage tickets are $3.00 each. Booths selling alcoholic beverages cannot accept cash. Tickets are sold at ticket booths located throughout Promenade Park. Ticket booths close 15 minutes before the event closes for the evening.

Note: Beverage tickets are not refundable and are only good at Rib-Off 2001. Any tickets that are unused by event visitors ultimately support United Health Services, Inc. and its six member agencies.

Parking

There are numerous parking spaces and lots near Promenade Park. Watch for Public Parking signs.

Restrooms

Permanent (handicapped accessible) restrooms are located in Promenade Park. Outdoor portable restrooms (handicapped accessible) with hand-wash stations are located along Water Street adjacent to the park.

ADA Access

Promenade Park is accessible to everyone. ADA parking is available at Public lots adjacent to the Park.
